End Metal Theft began with a real problem happening in the field, not in a boardroom. In 2010, our founder was working as a contractor for the City of Peoria, where a persistent issue kept disrupting public infrastructure projects. Electrical wire theft was repeatedly targeting the same public park. Every time crews repaired the damage and restored power, thieves would return at night, pull the wire out of the poles again, and leave the site in the same condition. This cycle continued over and over, costing the city significant money, wasting valuable labor hours, and forcing maintenance teams to revisit the same locations repeatedly instead of focusing on new projects or improvements for the community.

At the time, there was no reliable solution available on the market that effectively stopped this type of theft. Temporary fixes and standard covers did little to prevent determined thieves from accessing the wiring inside light poles. The situation made it clear that the real vulnerability existed at the pole opening itself, where thieves could easily reach inside and pull out valuable copper wire. The need for a practical, durable, and permanent solution became obvious.

Determined to solve the problem, our founder designed the first locking pole cover specifically to secure the entry point at the base of the pole. The concept was straightforward but highly effective: create a strong, tamper-resistant cover that could be securely locked in place, preventing unauthorized access while still allowing contractors and maintenance crews to open it when necessary. The design focused on durability, simplicity, and ease of installation so that municipalities and contractors could implement the solution quickly without major modifications.

The very first version of this locking cover was installed at Sundance Park in 2010 as a direct response to the repeated theft incidents. The results were immediate and remarkable. Once the covers were installed, the access point that thieves had relied on was completely secured. The ongoing cycle of theft and repair stopped, saving both time and money for the city while protecting the infrastructure.
